Durham High School qualified three wrestlers for the CIF State Meet this past weekend at the North Section Masters. DHS Junior Raeanna Halvorson became the first ever North Section Girls Champion at 139 lbs. as this was the inaugural Masters Meet for the North Section girls. Winning the North also qualifies Raeanna for the CIF Wrestling State Championships. Along with Raeanna, Zach Lacey and Isaiah Vaughan qualified for the Boys CIF Tournament. Both Vaughan and Lacey, who are freshman, had to work their way back to true second matches after suffering set backs in the semi finals earlier in the day. The true second match occurs in a tournament where only two wrestlers can secure a bid to the next tournament in a qualification process. Our Durham wrestlers had to wrestle back after losing in the semifinals and win their 3rd place match. If the 2nd place winner was a wrestler they did not wrestle already they would now have the opportunity to wrestle one more match to determine who goes to the State Championships. The victories in these two matches secured the bid for both Zach & Isaiah to compete at CIF State Championships. As a team Durham High School took 7th place out of all the teams in the North Section, regardless of enrollment size. A big congratulations go out to all the wrestlers who competed, medaled and extended their season. Below are the place winners:

Zach Lacey 3rd (True 2nd, CIF Qualified)
Haden Solinger-Owings 4th
